Represented by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, Governor Abiodun emphasized the significance of the event in the government's ongoing efforts to enhance the living standards of workers.
He lauded the dedication and hard work of civil servants, attributing their efforts to the success of his administration's policies and programs.
The governor announced the sale of high-quality rice at discounted prices exclusively to civil servants, urging them to seize the opportunity and embrace the government's goodwill.
In his welcome address, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as one of the government's interventions to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on workers.
He urged workers to reciprocate the government's gesture by remaining dedicated to their duties and contributing to the state's progress.
Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC), Comrade Isa Olude, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ademola Ahmed-Benco, commended the government for the initiative, emphasizing its positive impact on workers' welfare.
They praised Governor Abiodun as a caring and responsive leader and urged workers to effectively discharge their duties in return for the government's gesture.
Beneficiaries of the rice, Mrs. Temitope Akintayo and Mr. Olabanji Sanni, expressed gratitude to the state government for the initiative and pledged to continue delivering effective service.
The rice was distributed to beneficiaries by Mr. Onasanya on behalf of the government, with buses provided to transport workers to a reasonable distance.
