The development is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and expanding its mobilisation network across the 16 wards of Abeokuta North ahead of the elections.
The ambassadors were inaugurated on Thursday during a political mobilisation programme organised by the APC leadership in Ibara Orile Ward 16, with party leaders expressing confidence that the initiative would further consolidate the party’s strength at the polling unit level.
Speaking at the event, APC chieftain, Chief Bode Mustapha, described the inauguration as a significant step towards ensuring a coordinated and effective grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 polls.
Mustapha expressed confidence in the party’s candidates, whom he described as proven performers capable of meeting the expectations of the people.
“All my candidates are performers, starting from Mr President to the Senator and other candidates. I have so much confidence in all our candidates.
“With that, I am very confident that we will win resoundingly in Abeokuta North Local Government, and I mean resoundingly,” he said.
He also commended the leadership of the APC in Abeokuta North, noting that a strong party structure and effective leadership would play crucial roles in the party’s preparations for the elections.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Abeokuta North, Alhajia Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, charged the newly inaugurated ambassadors and other party members to remain united and work collectively towards delivering all the 16 wards in the local government to the APC.
She said the task before the party was to ensure that its mobilisation efforts translated into electoral success across every ward.
“My message to them is that they should come together ahead of the coming election and ensure that we win the election. The APC should win every ward, from Ward One to Ward Sixteen,” she said.
The member representing Odeda/Obafemi Owode and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olumide Osoba, described grassroots party members as the foundation of the APC’s electoral success.
Osoba said elected representatives and party leaders depended heavily on the commitment and sacrifices of members at the polling unit and community levels.
“Let me first of all appreciate the party members. They are our oxygen. They are the ones who do all the groundwork.
“I want to seriously appreciate them because, without the work they do, we cannot get to where we are today and now be able to do the work we do,” he said.
The lawmaker assured party members of continued engagement, promising to remain committed to their welfare and the development of the constituency.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman of Oke-Ogun Community in Abeokuta North Prince Ifekayode Akinbode said the inauguration of the 560 ambassadors demonstrated the party’s readiness to confront the 2027 elections from the grassroots.
He said the APC would mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and other candidates of the party.
According to him, the opposition would face a difficult task in Abeokuta North because of the APC’s established grassroots presence across the local government.
“We are going to win for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We are going to win for Yayi. We are going to win for all our candidates across all the wards in Abeokuta North, from Ward One to Ward Sixteen,” he declared.
The APC leader also expressed optimism that Adeola would emerge victorious in the Ogun State governorship election, saying the party’s growing mobilisation efforts across communities and polling units would be converted into votes.
