He urged the traders to set aside their frustrations, assuring them that the government is committed to safeguarding their well-being in the face of emergencies.
Subsequently, he convened a meeting with officials from Physical Planning and Urban Development, emphasizing the importance of communicating any directives issued by the state ministry prior to the implementation, expecially on markets matters.He highlighted his role as Chief Security Officer of the Local Government, which provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the local terrain.
Further measures were subsequently discussed between the local government and stakeholders in the area to develop sustainable solutions that would mitigate the impact of the demolitions, recognizing that the government must provide alternative means for affected traders to secure their livelihoods.
Reacting, HRH Oba Yayah Oriyomi, Olu of Mowe thanked the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA for coming to ascertain the effect of damages, as the demolition came as a shock.
He expressed optimism that the council boss visit to the market will stem down the heated anger. While enjoined the market men and women to respect government decisions and toe a path of dialogue in achieving peaceful resolution.
