Recall that the All Progressives Congress ( APC) recently adopted Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu as its consensus candidate for the Ogun Central Senatorial District and Hon. Babatunde Opeolu Tella as the party’s consensus choice for the Abeokuta North State Constituency.
The development has been described by political stakeholders as a major step toward strengthening unity and continuity within the party across the state. Both candidates are seeking second terms in their respective legislative offices.
Speaking on behalf of legislators in Abeokuta North Local Government on Friday, the Leader of the House, Hon. Moruf Erubami, congratulated the two candidates, describing their adoption as a reflection of confidence in their performance and leadership.
Erubami noted that Senator Salisu’s adoption to represent Ogun Central Senatorial District for a second term is “a testament to the impact of his representation and the trust he has built among party leaders and constituents.”

The lawmakers also praised the emergence of Hon. Babatunde Tella as the consensus candidate for a second term in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
According to Erubami, Tella’s grassroots connection and legislative contributions have strengthened the party’s presence in the constituency.
“Hon. Babatunde Tella has demonstrated capacity, accessibility, and effective representation. His endorsement is a clear vote of confidence in the progress recorded so far and the expectation of even greater service ahead,” he said.
Erubami urged party members and supporters to remain united as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
“This is a time for unity, cooperation, and collective focus on victory for our party,” he stated.
He expressed optimism that the consensus arrangement would foster stability and strengthen the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections in Ogun State, adding that legislators in Abeokuta North remain committed to supporting the party’s candidates at all levels.
