For many, the record of Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, popularly known as Awoso, stands out as a compelling case for continuity.
One of the most impactful interventions credited to the lawmaker is his commitment to improving access to healthcare among his constituents.
Our correspondent gathered that the lawmaker has personally funded a free health insurance scheme for over 300 constituents, paying ₦12,000 per beneficiary.
This initiative, according to the residents, has not only reduced the burden of medical expenses for vulnerable residents but has also expanded access to quality healthcare services, particularly for those who would otherwise struggle to afford it.
Our correspondent also gathered that the scheme goes beyond basic consultations but covers medical tests and even surgical procedures, including hernia operations, among others.
At a time when healthcare costs remain a major concern for many families, this initiative by Hon. Adegoke-Awoso has been widely applauded as both timely and life-changing.
Beyond the insurance scheme, he has personally equipped nine primary health centres across the constituency.
These include facilities in Imasayi, Ijaka Oke, Ijaka Isale, Iboro, Igbogila, Igan Okoto, and Agboro Church in Idofoi, Ayetoro where he also completed two units of previously abandoned toilets.
He also provided generator sets for Sawonjo Primary Health Centre and the FMC Annex in Joga Orile.
The lawmaker has revitalized an abandoned borehole project in Ijaka Isale, originally initiated during the administration of former Governor Gbenga Daniel, by installing a new generating set, reservoirs, and iron scaffolding.
His legislative footprint also reflects active participation in shaping policies that impact the state. As Chairman of the House Committee on Health, he has sponsored and co-sponsored key bills, including the Free Health Insurance Bill.
Serving as Vice Chairman on Education, he contributed to the bill that led to the renaming of Tai Solarin College of Education to Sikiru Adetona College of Education.
He has also been involved in legislative efforts on bill on open grazing and cultural heritage, leading to the recognition of Isese Day in Ogun State, land grabbing, and anti-cultism bills, among others.
In terms of infrastructure and basic amenities, Hon. Adeyanju has continued to deliver.
During the 2019–2023 period when only one constituency project was approved per lawmaker, he maximized the opportunity by facilitating multiple impactful projects.
Currently, the lawmaker has facilitated two boreholes with generators in Igbogila, three boreholes in Ayetoro with new generating sets, as well as the provision of toilets and solar-powered streetlights.
As a lawmaker representing Yewa North I, over 200 solar lights have been distributed across communities, improving security and enhancing night-time activities.
The lawmaker, during his mega empowerment programme held in Igbogila, he provided practical support to over 500 constituents.
Beneficiaries received items such as pepper grinding machines, sewing machines, and generating sets tools designed to promote self-reliance and boost small-scale businesses within the community.
Residents and stakeholders described these interventions as evidence of responsive and people-oriented representation.
By combining social welfare initiatives like health insurance with economic empowerment programmes, Hon. Adeyanju has continued to position himself as a leader attentive to both the immediate and long-term needs of his constituency.
As calls for his re-election grow louder, many constituents believe that sustaining such impactful initiatives requires continuity in leadership, making a strong case for giving Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso another mandate to build on his achievements.
