Delu Lays Foundation for Taidob College Indoor Sports Arena, Charges Students on Sports, Academic Excellence

A Senior Special Assistant to Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development, Honourable Tunde Delu, on Tuesday laid the foundation of Taidob College, Abeokuta, Indoor Sports Arena during the school’s 8th Inter-House Sports Competition.

Delu, who chaired the colourful sporting event, charged the students to cultivate strong interest in sporting activities alongside their academic pursuits.

The Governor’s aide was accompanied by three renowned state and national athletics coaches — Bamidele Elegbede, Abayomi Ashipa and Olufemi Durosanya — who used the opportunity to scout for budding talents.
The coaches identified at least 16 athletes with the potential to compete at higher levels, raising hopes for future state and national representation.

In his address, Delu encouraged the students to remain focused on their studies while actively participating in sports, describing extracurricular activities as vital tools for character building.

He commended the management of Taidob College for providing a supportive environment and facilities that enable students to engage in diverse developmental programmes.

According to him, inter-house sports competitions serve as platforms for discovering young talents and instilling values such as resilience, teamwork and healthy competition.

He further applauded the administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun for its unwavering commitment to youth development, sports advancement and community engagement across Ogun State.

Meanwhile, the management, staff and students of Taidob College expressed appreciation to Honourable Delu for his support and contribution to the success of the event.

They praised his exemplary leadership and dedication to the promotion of sports in the state.
As a mark of honour, the school presented him with an Award of Excellence, which was handed over by former Vice Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Prof. Sabur Adesanya, amid applause from dignitaries, parents and students in attendance.
