Aare Mayegun of Owu Kingdom and Convener of the Ajibosin Platform,Prince Olanrewaju Kazeem Bakinson, has unveiled a series of wide-ranging educational, technological and developmental initiatives aimed at empowering youths and shaping the future of Owu Kingdom and Nigeria at large.
Speaking with newsmen on Saturday in Abeokuta, Prince Bakinson disclosed that Aare Bakinson Foundation has commenced the first phase of a WAEC sponsorship scheme for 100 indigent but brilliant students.
He explained that the initiative is being supported by his friends and associates, with examination fees to be paid directly to the students’ schools to ensure transparency and accountability.
According to him, beneficiaries are being selected through an ongoing aptitude test and will be captured in a database for continuous monitoring and mentorship through their university education.
“We will be dealing with 100 students , I’m not doing it alone , I have mobilized my friends to support me on it . We are going to pay directly to the schools of this eligible student . As we speak an aptitude test is ongoing for the students. For them they will be in our database. We are going to monitor them till university” he said.
Prince Bakinson also highlighted the success of the foundation on drone technology programme, noting that participants underwent two months of online training and are now in the practical phase.
He explained that the training covers the entire drone value chain, including drone-as-a-service, piloting, sales, advanced photography and training of future drone operators.
“Talking about the drone class we had the online class for two months, we are in the practical class now where drone as a service, all the value chain of drone , for some who wants to be pilot , sell drone and those that even want to be trainers of other people that will be coming. Let them see drone, it’s the future of technology. For some of them that want to use drone as an advance photography methodology, we have talk to them”.
He revealed that graduates of the drone programme will be deployed to work on the Owu Development Guide, a sub-master plan for Abeokuta, which aimed to map and plan every inch of Owu land for sustainable development over the next 50 years.
“After completion, we want to bring them on to do the Owu development guide which is a sub master plan to the Abeokuta.
“For us every inch of Owu will be mapped and plan so that we will have the future of what we want owu to be in the next 50 years”.
On documentation and intellectual legacy, the Ajibosin convener disclosed that the platform is producing a book of proceedings, following a challenge by the Balogun of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at the second Ajibosin series.
He said two editions of Ajibosin will be combined in the first book, which is scheduled for launch at the Owu National Convention in London later this year, while subsequent series will produce another volume.
In furtherance of his commitment to education and technology, Prince Bakinson announced the donation of a Geaographical Information system (GIS) Resource Centre to Crescent University in celebration of the matriculation of his first son, Abdul Hakeem Olasubomi Bakinson.
He explained that the centre will support drone image processing, GIS training and advanced capacity building, serving as a hub for further training in drone technology.
He also announced the inauguration of the committee for the third series of the Ajibosin Platform, revealing that Professor Omotayo has been confirmed as the guest speaker, while arrangements are ongoing to select panelists.
Speaking on the All Progressive Party e-registration that is on-going, he called Nigerians yet to align with the All Progressives Congress to join the party in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
“We believe APC will faithfully execute policies that will ultimately reduce the pains of Nigerians,” he said.
Prince Bakinson expressed gratitude to dignitaries and well-wishers who attended his mother’s 70th birthday celebration held in Lagos on January 2, 2026.
He specifically appreciated the Olowu of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo represented by his wife, Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo, former governors Olusegun Osoba and Ibikunle Amosun, as well as Senator Adeola Olamilekan Yayi and others for their presence and goodwill.
