The training, held on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th January 2026, was in line with directives from the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters and aimed at strengthening professionalism within the Service.
The capacity-building programme was organized under the leadership of the Area Controller, Comptroller Olukemi Olusola Akingbade, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance discipline, improve crisis management skills, and promote ethical conduct in the discharge of official responsibilities. It was designed as an on-the-job training initiative to reinforce the values and standards expected of Customs personnel.
In her opening remarks, Comptroller Akingbade charged participants to hold the lessons from the training in high esteem, describing the programme as a guiding framework that would positively shape their conduct, decision-making, and professional outlook, both in their current assignments and in future postings within the Service.
The training was facilitated by the Assistant Comptroller of Customs, U.C. Ogugu, who served as the lead facilitator, alongside other experienced officers including AC O. Andong, CSC O.I. Okintola, CSC J.O. Otuku, and CSC G.O. Olaniyan. The facilitators provided in-depth insights into the principles and importance of reputation management, stressing the need for continuous training and retraining to broaden officers’ perspectives and enhance effective service delivery.
On Thursday, 15th January 2026, the programme was presided over by the Deputy Comptroller of Customs, A.I. Enyam, who commended the initiative and expressed appreciation to the facilitators for their comprehensive and impactful presentations. He encouraged participants to diligently apply the knowledge acquired in the course of their lawful duties.
Deputy Comptroller Enyam further emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and consultation among officers, noting that no single individual possesses all knowledge and that collective effort remains vital to achieving institutional goals and sustaining public trust.
The training sessions were conducted in batches at the Command Headquarters, Quarry Road, Ibara, Abeokuta, and were concluded with group photographs to commemorate the successful completion of the programme.
