In a bold move, Gateway Bloggers have pledged to stand out amongst their peers, assuring the public of their commitment to objectivity and responsible journalism.
During a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Governor of Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the bloggers emphasized their mission to showcase the true beauty, progress, and potential of Ogun State, beyond stereotypes and misinformation.
Comrade Olamide David, State Coordinator of Gateway Bloggers, stated that their goal is to open Ogun State to the world, promoting government initiatives and amplifying positive narratives. He assured Akinmade of their commitment to responsible journalism, emphasizing that they are not just bloggers, but partners in the development of the state.
Akinmade, in his response, welcomed the bloggers and emphasized the importance of responsible civic engagement. He stressed that leaders are open to constructive criticism, but not to personal attacks or insults disguised as criticism. "We are open to constructive criticism—criticism that is fair, factual, and aimed at improvement," he said.
The Special Adviser also shared his personal story, highlighting the importance of sincerity, patience, and faith in achieving success. He noted that God rewards genuine effort, and that working with the right values and integrity will ultimately lead to success.
The meeting marked the beginning of a productive partnership between Gateway Bloggers and the Ogun State government, built on trust, transparency, and shared goals for the growth of the state. As Akinmade put it, "Let us continue to work together with sincerity, patience, and faith—trusting that when the time is right, God will reward us all."
