Ambassador Whyte described the Yuletide as a period of reflection, love and gratitude, calling on young people to use the season to strengthen bonds of friendship and promote harmony within their communities.
He noted that Christmas goes beyond celebrations, emphasising that it offers an opportunity for youths to recommit themselves to positive values such as tolerance, mutual respect and selflessness.
The Ogun Youth Assembly chairman encouraged youths to shun violence, drug abuse and other social vices, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains key to the development and progress of the state.
According to him, the role of youths in nation-building cannot be overstated, as they constitute a significant force capable of driving social change and economic growth when properly guided.
Ambassador Whyte also called on young people to engage in productive activities during the festive period, including volunteering, community service and skills development initiatives that add value to society.
He commended the Ogun State Government for its continuous support for youth-focused programmes and policies aimed at empowering young people and improving their welfare.
The youth leader urged stakeholders, parents and community leaders to continue mentoring and supporting youths, especially during the festive season when temptations and distractions are high.
He further appealed to security agencies and relevant authorities to ensure adequate security across the state to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for residents.
Ambassador Whyte wished the youths and residents of Ogun State a joyful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, expressing optimism that the coming year would bring greater opportunities for growth and development.
