The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu, and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, urged youths across the state to unite, reflect, learn and commit themselves to positive change.
They emphasized that the future of Nigeria depends largely on the choices and values cultivated by young people today.
Held under the theme “Uniting Ogun State Youths in the Fight Against Cultism, Internet Fraud, Money Laundering, Drug Abuse, Human Trafficking and Economic Sabotage,” the summit brought together government agencies, security operatives, community leaders and youth groups.
Speakers encouraged young people to transition from being perceived as victims or perpetrators of social vices to becoming gatekeepers, whistle-blowers and champions of peace within their communities.
In their remarks, Issa Onilu and CP Ogunlowo highlighted Ogun State’s long-standing reputation for intellectual excellence, cultural pride, moral discipline and entrepreneurship.
They stressed that the state must continue to lead national efforts in shaping responsible, resilient and patriotic youths who reject crime and uphold integrity.
The summit also underscored the importance of collaboration, partnerships and sustained youth engagement in rebuilding societal values.
Stakeholders called for continuous empowerment programmes to strengthen the moral fabric of young people and promote a united, secure and prosperous Nigeria.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of key contributors to youth development and security advocacy. Olori Omolara Mc-Gregor was decorated as the Matron of the Forum, while Adegboyega Adekoya, Allen-Taylor and Adeyemi Ademuyiwa were honoured with the Icon of Security Ambassador Awards.
The organisers expressed optimism that the renewed commitment from youths and stakeholders would significantly curb social vices and enhance security across Ogun State.
