Obafemi Owode LG Chairman Moves to Sanitize Mowe Market, Warns Against Roadside Trading, Waste Disposal

A note of warning has gone out to the traders in Mowe market of Obafemi Owode Local Government, as the Executive Chairman, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA paid a working visit to the market on the instruction of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State on Thursday 11th, 2025.

The Council boss frowned at the indiscriminate disposal of refuse by the traders in the market, describing such attitude has an eye saw, which portrayed the area in bad light.

Amb. Ogunsola warned all selling on walkways, roadside to vacate the place, as he ordered those that let out space in front of their shops to desist from such.

He stressed that the government can not tolerate what is not right, sighting the dangers awaits those displaying wares by the roadside and walkways, as it causes traffic delay for road users.

Similarly, Amb. Ogunsola has assured the residents and commuters in Mowe axis of Obafemi Owode Local Government the interest of his administration in asphalting the market road linking Lagos/ Ibadan Express Way in due time.
He disclosed that the road has been marked for construction, with keen interest of government in developing the axis to measure up with the commercial activities in the area.

Alhaji Nurudeen Alowonle, Babaloja Mowe market commended the workerholic council boss, as he expressed total compliance of the traders to the directive of the government in maintaining clean environment at all time.

In the same vein, Mrs. Ganiyat Oyelakin, Iyaloja General, pledged the utmost loyalty of the market women in ensuring total compliance and enforcement of the order made by the local government chairman, as nobody will be allowed to display wares in the walkways and road setbacks.

Among the Chairman's entourage includes, Hon. Emmanuel Adeola, Supervisor for Water and Environmental Sanitation, Hon. Rasheed Adenekan, Special Adviser on Legislative and Political Matters, Mr. Opajobi Fatai, Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation, Prince Segun Soneye, Director of Information, Education and Sports among others.
