It was a moment of political realignment and renewed strength for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government as the Ward 8 Chairman, Alhaji Taofeek Agbogunleri, officially welcomed notable leaders from opposition parties into the APC family.
Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday, Alhaji Agbogunleri expressed delight at the decision of the new members to join the ruling party, describing their defection as a sign of the growing confidence in the leadership and vision of the APC at both the state and local government levels.
Among those received were Hon. Ahmodu Ejalonobu Taofiq, a former Councillorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Mr. Taiwo Ogunneye, both of whom pledged their loyalty and commitment to the continued progress of Ward 8 and Abeokuta North as a whole.
Alhaji Agbogunleri assured the new members of equal opportunity and inclusion in the party’s activities, noting that the APC remains a platform for all individuals who believe in unity, development, and people-oriented governance.
He commended the efforts of party leaders across the local government for their dedication to strengthening the APC’s grassroots base and fostering unity among members.
Also, the Councillor representing Ward 8 and Deputy Leader of the Abeokuta North Legislative Council, Hon. Waheed Akomolafe, also welcomed the new members to the ruling party.
He assured them of full integration and equal opportunity within the APC structure, emphasizing that the party values every member’s contribution to grassroots development and collective progress.
Hon. Akomolafe commended the defectors for their bold decision, noting that their experience and political strength would further consolidate the APC’s influence in the ward.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast and work with existing members to advance the party’s developmental agenda.
