Ogun 2027: Egba Agenda Crusaders Insist on Producing Governor

…Says Ogun Central Cannot Wait 16 Years Before Returning to Oke-Mosan

The Egba Agenda 2027 Crusaders have declared that Ogun Central Senatorial District must produce the next governor of Ogun State in 2027, insisting that the zone cannot afford to wait another 16 years before returning to the state’s number one seat.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Nuj Centre Abeokuta on Saturday, the State Coordinator of the group, Hon. Fesomade Gbadebo, argued that while the group acknowledges the long standing aspiration of Ogun West to produce a governor, Egba people cannot be made to “pay the huge sacrifice required to heal the self-inflicted wounds” of their Yewa-Awori brothers.

Tracing the state’s political history since its creation in 1976, Gbadebo noted that Ogun East has produced governors three times, late Chief Bisi Onabanjo (1979–1983), Otunba Gbenga Daniel (2003–2011), and the incumbent, Prince Dapo Abiodun (2019–2027). Ogun Central has produced two, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, while Ogun West is yet to occupy the position.
He recalled that Ogun West had several opportunities in the past but failed to clinch the seat due to internal divisions, multiple candidacies, and political miscalculations.

Citing the 2011 governorship election, Gbadebo explained that the combined votes of two leading Ogun West candidates, retired General Tunji Olurin (PDP) and Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (PPN), exceeded those of eventual winner Senator Ibikunle Amosun of the ACN.

“The zone best chance was 2011, second best time was 2015 , third best time was 2019  and the next best time is 2027 but the snag is that Egbas feel it can't be tied down for 16 years for Ogun West to have it in 2027. The Egba Agenda crusaders are of the conviction that it should not be made to pay the huge sacrifice required to heal self - inflicted wound or deprivation of the Ogun West.

Gbadebo stressed that in 2027, the Egba bloc is ready to take the governorship, with “an array of competent, qualified Egba sons and daughters warming up for the race.”

He dismissed the idea of shelving Egba aspirations due to what he described as the “usual political harakiri” currently playing out among leading Ogun West political figures.

The group, he said, has received the blessing of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland for the 2027 project.

“Even as we the Egba Agenda 2027 Crusaders has received the blessing of our Royal Father The Alake and paramount ruler of Egba Land , we can not held responsible for the usual betrayal syndrome which is peculiar to the leaders of ogun West in 2027”.
