The subsidy was disbursed to the beneficiaries ahead of the symbolic animal sacrifice central to the Eid-el-Kabir rites. Each pilgrim received 50 Saudi Riyals, approximately ₦22,000 in Nigerian currency, to assist with the purchase of a ram for the annual Al-Adha sacrifice.
Alhaji Apelogun, while expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting the pilgrims the opportunity to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam.
“This is a time of sacrifice, reflection, and gratitude. As your Amir Hajj, I feel honoured to support our pilgrims in a modest way to show solidarity and love, especially during this sacred season of Eid-el-kabir Apelogun said.
The pilgrims, visibly excited and appreciative, received the money with joy, thanking the Amir Hajj for his benevolence and fatherly care.
Apelogun therefore appealed to the pilgrims to remember in their supplications the President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,
Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and the peace, progress, and unity of the nation at large.
“This is a divine moment. Let your tongues be moist with prayer and your hearts filled with hope,” he admonished.
Amir Hajj further reminded the pilgrims that Arafah offers a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to seek Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
He encouraged them to take full advantage of it and return home as better citizens and spiritual ambassadors of Ogun State.
