The Ogun State Youth Assembly has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic accident that claimed the lives of members of the Kano State contingent returning from the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
In an official condolence message released on Saturday, the Chairman of the Ogun Youth Assembly, Amb. Habeeb Whyte, described the incident as heartbreaking and a devastating loss not just to Kano State, but to the entire nation.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the fatal accident involving young, vibrant athletes who had just represented their state at a national level,” he said.
“These were youths filled with dreams, determination, and the spirit of unity that sports inspire. Their sudden passing is a huge blow to the entire youth community in Nigeria.”
Amb. Whyte extended the Assembly’s heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kano State, the bereaved families, and the sports community at large, praying for strength and comfort in this difficult time.
He also used the opportunity to call for improved safety measures and policies to ensure the protection of athletes and officials during interstate travels, especially in the course of national assignments.
