Ogun Councillor, Akeyan Lateef Facilitates Construction of Box Culvert in Ikija/Ilugun, Abeokuta North

The residents of Ikija/Ilugun in Ward 2, Abeokuta North Local Government, can now heave a sigh of relief as a new box culvert has been constructed behind Ojude Agbunrin Mosque, thanks to the intervention of Hon. Akeyan Lateef Olakunle.

Hon. Akeyan, the Councillor representing Ward 2, spearheaded the project to address persistent flooding and improve accessibility in the community. 

For years, residents have struggled with poor drainage in the area, leading to road erosion and difficulties in movement, especially during the rainy season.

While speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, Hon. Akeyan emphasized his commitment to infrastructural development and the well-being of his constituents. 
He noted that the culvert was necessary to prevent flooding, enhance road durability, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

“This project is part of my commitment to ensure that our communities enjoy better infrastructure. I understand the challenges our people face, and I am determined to provide solutions that will make life easier for them,” he stated.

The residents expressed their appreciation for the project, describing it as a long-awaited intervention. 

Mr. Shakiru Ogundeyi, Chairman Adehun Oluwa CDA, ikija/Ilugun ,commended the councillor for prioritizing community needs. 

“We have suffered from flooding for too long, but with this culvert, we now have hope that the situation will improve,” he said.

Hon. Akeyan reiterated his readiness to work with relevant authorities to facilitate more developmental projects in Ward 2. 

He urged residents to support government initiatives and maintain the newly constructed culvert to ensure its longevity.

As part of his plans, the councillor assured the people that more infrastructural projects would be pursued to enhance the standard of living in the ward.
