Ward 8 Gaa/ lafenwa/Afonta in Abeokuta North Local Government, Ogun State, has received a boost in infrastructural development with the installation of 10 solar-powered streetlights.
The project, which was facilitated by the Councillor representing the ward, Hon. Waheed Akomolafe, was executed on Tuesday as part of a broader initiative to improve lighting across the local government.
The installation is part of the “Lighting Up Abeokuta North Local Government Ward After Ward” initiative, championed by the Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo.
Speaking after the installation, Hon. Akomolafe expressed gratitude to the local government chairman for his commitment to grassroots development.
He added that the street lights aimed to enhance security, boost economic activities, and improve the overall quality of life for residents by ensuring that public spaces are well-lit at night.
He noted that the installation of the solar-powered streetlights would not only improve visibility at night but also contribute to the safety and security of residents.
He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the administration’s goal of providing sustainable and eco-friendly solutions to infrastructural challenges.
Hon. Akomolafe reaffirmed his commitment to facilitate more developmental projects for the people of Ward 8.
He assured residents that his office would continue working with the council chairman and other stakeholders to ensure the community enjoys more infrastructural developments.
