The Councillor of Ward 8, Abeokuta North local government in Ogun State Hon. Waheed Akomolafe, has called on Christians and Nigerians at large to embody the spirit of love and giving as the Christmas season approaches.
Hon. Akomolafe made this appeal during the second annual Christmas Carol Service of Nine Lessons organized by the Ilupeju Oke-Odo Area Community Development Association, Abeokuta.
The event, which featured melodious carols, Bible readings, and prayers, drew the participation of community leaders, residents, and well-wishers.
Speaking to newsmen after the event, Hon. Akomolafe emphasized the essence of Christmas, urging Christians to reflect on the virtues of love, compassion, and generosity.
He noted that the yuletide season provides an opportunity for people to demonstrate acts of kindness, especially to the less privileged in the society.
“Christmas is a time to show love and give to one another. Let’s not lose sight of the values that define us as a people. Love, compassion, and generosity should be our guiding principles as we celebrate this season.”
The councillor encouraged Nigerians to cultivate a habit of giving not only during festive seasons but throughout the year.
He added that such acts could strengthen communal bonds and promote social harmony.
The councillor emphasized that love for one another could help bridge societal divides, reduce tension, and foster a peaceful environment for all.
