Boot Party Chairman, Akerele Urges Gov. Abiodun to Address Rising Cult Killings in Ogun

The Boot Party Chairman in Ogun State Abiodun Akerele, has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to take immediate and decisive action to address the surge in cult-related killings across Ogun State. 

Akerele made this appeal during the official flag-off of the party where he expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity in the state.

Describing the governor as the state’s Chief Security Officer, Akerele emphasized that Governor Abiodun has a constitutional duty to ensure peace and unity in Ogun. 

He criticized the governor’s approach to the situation, alleging that his responses have been limited to “audio promises” with little to no visible action on the ground.

Akerele further stressed that the governor’s position comes with the responsibility of safeguarding lives and property adding that residents of Ogun State should hold Governor Abiodun accountable if he fails to take the necessary steps to curb the violence in the state.

His words “ Governor Dapo Abiodun has been so silent about the killings among the Cult members in Ogun state . I think he should stop the audio promises and act on what he should do because he is the Governor of the state , he’s saddle with the responsibility to make sure there’s peace and unity in the state .

“He should take action and stop giving us audio promises , he’s not there to have fun, he’s there to serve the people of Ogun state . Everyone should hold him responsible if he fails to do the needful” he said.

The Party Chairman also declared his party’s determination to take over the leadership of Ogun State in the 2027 general elections. 

Akerele assured supporters that efforts are underway to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and ensure that competent leaders emerge to govern the state.

“The party has come to stay and we are working to ensure that we take over in 2027, by the special grace of God, even from the nation there has been nothing like that, in this state we want to work because this is a grassroots political party and we want to make sure that our people are enthroned and our people who has the ability rule and govern get into the position. 

Akerele also criticized the conduct of the most recent elections, describing it as a “selection” rather than a genuine electoral process. 

He lamented the recycling of the same political figures across federal, state, and local government levels, likening it to a “father-to-son relationship” system of governance.

“ You will see that in the just-concluded election, I wouldn't say it was an election but a selection, so we shouldn't expect much from it as it is now, because every one of us can testify to what they have done .

“ It is just play to the gallery,  the same set of the people at federal is the same at the state are the same replicating at the local government,   so what do you expect than a father to son relationship.
