In a speech during the distribution in Abeokuta, the founder of the NGO, Mrs Seun Balogun, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the financial burden on parents, considering the current economic situation.
Balogun, revealed that the foundation’s goal, is to support struggling communities and make a positive impact on the lives of children.
She explained that the foundation realised that many children were not in school due to lack of basic necessities like school bags, saying that the foundation decided to support the needy.
She however, emphasised the importance of collective effort in making a difference in the society, saying that government cannot do it alone.
She then appealed to other NGOs and individuals, to continue making a positive impact in their communities, emphasising the importance of partnership and collective effort in achieving success.
“My advice is not only for NGO’s but Nigerians as a whole, you can start from somewhere. The Seun and Friends campaign is set up to raise funds.
“I am not a wealthy person, I could not do this with my own personal funds only, so everybody can stand up wherever they are and do something, because we cannot continuously rely on the government.
“A country can be successful through partnership with the government, communities, individuals and NGO’s like us,” she said.
Beneficiaries and their parents expressed gratitude for the timely donation, which they said will reduce expenses when the new school session begins.
Mr Bakare Olasunbo, a parent whose child received a school bag, praised the foundation’s efforts.
“This gesture is amazing, especially considering the current economic situation in the country. It will definitely relieve parents of some expenses,” he said.
