The Federal Government has officially declared October 1 a public holiday to commemorate the anniversary.
Zee 1 for Yayi is a political support group established to mobilise support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in his political activities and his 2027 governorship ambition in Ogun State.
The group, according to its leadership, is founded on the principles of grassroots mobilisation, political engagement, community development and support for ideas and programmes that can contribute to the growth of Ogun State.
The founder of Zee 1 for Yayi, Ambassador Azeez Ayomikun Ibrahim, felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion, describing Independence Day as an important moment for citizens to reflect on the country’s journey since October 1, 1960.
Ibrahim urged Nigerians to continue to promote peace, unity and development, stressing that the responsibility of building a better country rests on the collective efforts of citizens, leaders and communities.
He also called on members and supporters of Zee 1 for Yayi to remain committed to peaceful political participation and constructive engagement as the country progresses towards the 2027 general elections.
The founder further emphasised the importance of supporting leadership conversations centred on development, opportunities for young people, economic empowerment, infrastructure and the wellbeing of citizens, while urging Nigerians to put the interests of the country first.
As Nigeria marks another year of independence, Zee 1 for Yayi extended its warm greetings to Nigerians and expressed hope for a more peaceful, prosperous and united nation.
The group also reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots mobilisation and its support for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as preparations for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election continue.
