Family, Associates Celebrate Late Pa Jeremiah Fayomi’s Legacy of Faith, Integrity in Ogun

Family members, friends, associates and community members have paid glowing tributes to the late Elder Jeremiah Olusola Fayomi, popularly known as Baba Olopa, describing him as a man of faith, discipline, hard work and exemplary character.

Fayomi, the patriarch of the Fayomi family, was laid to rest at his residence in Isaga Orile, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, following funeral ceremonies marked by emotional tributes and thanksgiving for a life of service and enduring impact.

The funeral activities included a Christian wake-keep, burial service, outing and thanksgiving service at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Isaga Orile Assembly, Ilewo Orile District, Ita-Oshin Area, LAWMNA Territory.

The church services were officiated by Assembly Pastor J.O. Oniyide, District Apostle Pastor Dr A. Olu Adegbokan, Area Superintendent Pastor I.G. Awotanmi and LAWMNA Territory Chairman, Pastor M.O. Ogunibe.
In an emotional tribute, one of the deceased's daughters, Adebunmi Adefunke Balogun, described her father as a courageous and loving man whose resilience, faith and positive influence left lasting impressions on his family and everyone who encountered him.

She recalled the Bible verse, Colossians 3:17, which her father taught her, saying his life was defined by the battles he overcame and the values he passed on to his children.

“My Dad, I will forever miss you, and I will never forget the special Bible verse you taught me, Colossians 3:17. Daddy, I believe you saw God before you saw death,” she said.

Balogun added that her father had overcome numerous challenges from childhood, recalling his account of losing his mother when he was only seven months old.

“You came to this world to fight battles, which you fought and conquered. You are a brave and loving person. You made a positive impact in the life of anyone you came across, including the family. You are loved by everyone, and your memory can never be forgotten,” she said.
Another daughter, Adenike Juliana Olowe, described the late Fayomi as a loving father, devoted husband, man of God and dependable friend who raised his children with strong moral values.
According to her, he consistently emphasised discipline, hard work, honesty and contentment, often reminding the family with the Yoruba expression, “Nkan to ba ni je ko te e lorun,” meaning that people should be content with what they have.

She said her father's exemplary character and good name had positively influenced her life, adding that she remained proud of the values he instilled in his children.

Olowe also paid tribute to her father's devotion to his late wife, Deaconess Susan Akpan-Udok Fayomi, whom he reportedly chose not to remarry after her death on October 3, 2020.

Reflecting on the coincidence of their deaths in October, she said the thought that her parents might have reunited in eternity offered her comfort amid the pain of losing her6 father.

“You loved our mother, Deaconess Susan Akpan-Udok Fayomi, so dearly that you chose not to remarry after her death on October 3, 2020. Six years later, in the same month of October, you departed too,” she said.

“I find comfort imagining that you have finally reunited with your beloved wife, sharing your familiar jokes and laughter once again.”
Following the church service, the late patriarch was interred at his residence in Isaga Orile, with family members, friends, well-wishers and residents gathering to honour his memory.

The tributes highlighted the enduring influence of Fayomi's faith, family devotion, integrity and commitment to raising his children with values that will continue to shape future generations.
