The outreach, held on Saturday was organised in collaboration with the Sabo Community under the theme, “Silent Killers, Timely Action: Check It. Control It. Live Longer.”
The initiative formed part of JCI Rockcity’s commitment to its 2026 THRIVE agenda and the promotion of Human Duties by expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for elderly and underserved residents.
For more than a decade, JCI Rockcity has sustained the Care for the Aged Health Outreach as one of its flagship community development programmes aimed at improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations.
While the programme was open to people of all age groups, special attention was given to senior citizens, many of whom face challenges associated with chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, and osteoarthritis.
Participants received a wide range of free healthcare services, including medical consultations, blood pressure and blood glucose checks, malaria tests, HIV, hepatitis and tuberculosis screening, eye examinations, medication dispensing, health education, and welfare support.
Elderly beneficiaries living with hypertension and diabetes were provided with a one-month supply of medications, while 100 food relief packages were distributed to residents aged 60 years and above.
Speaking during the outreach, the President of JCI Rockcity, Ambassador Olalekan Aroyehun, said the organisation remains committed to creating sustainable positive change through impactful community interventions that directly improve people’s lives.
“For over a decade, JCI Rockcity has remained committed to making quality healthcare accessible to those who need it most. Through initiatives like the Care for the Aged Health Outreach, we continue to demonstrate that service to humanity remains at the heart of our mission. We believe healthier communities are built when we work together to provide timely and accessible healthcare,” Aroyehun said.
The Project Chairperson, Muslimat Alausa, noted that the outreach was designed to bridge healthcare gaps, particularly among elderly residents who often struggle to access quality medical services.
“The Care for the Aged initiative was created to improve access to healthcare, especially for elderly and underserved members of our communities. Today’s turnout and the number of beneficiaries reached reflect the urgent need for initiatives like this, and we remain committed to sustaining this impact,” she stated.
The event attracted several community leaders, including Barrister Habeeb Whyte, Chairman of the Sabo Stayte Association, Community Development Associations, representatives of the Sabo Youth Association, and other stakeholders, whose presence underscored the community’s support for the initiative and its objectives.
JCI Rockcity also acknowledged the contributions of its sponsors, donors, partners, and volunteers whose support ensured the success of the programme.
Special recognition was given to Hon. Prince Hadi Sani, Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Government on Inter-Ethnic Affairs and Director-General of the Southwest Arewa Community, Alhaji Shehu Usman.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the organising committee, Alausa thanked every sponsor, volunteer, donor, family member, and supporter for contributing to the success of the programme.
