Oba Adediran gave the commendation during an interview with News Channel in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Speaking on recent developments in Ogun State, Oba Adediran said the governor has shown strong commitment to combating kidnapping, insurgency and other criminal activities through practical measures and strategic interventions.
According to the monarch, Governor Abiodun has also made remarkable strides in the education sector, particularly in revamping technical education to make it more attractive and beneficial to young people across the state.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun is doing all his best within his capacity to eradicate vices, kidnapping and all forms of criminality in Ogun State. We can all see that he is fighting insecurity in a different and commendable way, and we appreciate him for that,” the monarch said.
Speaking further, Oba Adediran praised the governor for upgrading the state’s eight technical colleges to international standard, describing the move as a major achievement that would empower young people with practical skills and improve their future prospects.
“The technical colleges in Ogun State, which many people previously did not want to attend, have now been opened up and upgraded by the governor to international level with modern equipment and facilities. Beyond that, he has elevated them into government colleges where students can acquire technical knowledge in fields such as electrical works, plumbing and other vocational skills,” he said.
The royal father explained that students who pass through the technical colleges would graduate with qualifications that are valuable for employment and self-development, while also encouraging parents to take advantage of the opportunities by enrolling their children in the schools.
“They will come out with certifications that are equivalent in value and can help shape their future. It is a great achievement for Ogun State to have eight upgraded government technical colleges. I want to urge parents to key into this vision and encourage their children to embrace technical education because it is a pathway to self-reliance and development,” Oba Adediran added.
On youth development and career opportunities, the monarch also called on parents to encourage their children to consider careers in the military and other security agencies, noting that the armed forces offer diverse professional opportunities beyond combat roles.
“There are large opportunities in the police and the military for young people to build a future for themselves. In the military, you can be a doctor, a nurse, a pharmacist, an accountant or an auditor. There are army schools of nursing and several professional departments where individuals can practise their chosen careers while serving their fatherland,” he said.
Oba Adediran also lauded the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state Senate Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for what he described as ongoing developmental efforts , citing road construction and other interventions as signs of commitment to the state’s growth.
“He is not governor yet, but we have seen the good things he has been doing. He is completing Olusegun Obasanjo Street in Agbeloba and carrying out other developmental projects. He is using the capacity, opportunity and influence of his present position to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ogun State,” the monarch stated.
The traditional ruler, however, stressed that the success of good governance also depends on citizens’ participation in the electoral process, urging residents of Ogun State to shun voter apathy and ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of future elections.
“The only thing we need now is for our people to get their PVCs and elect the leader of their choice. People must move away from voter apathy because the power to elect a leader belongs to all of us. If we want continuity of development and good governance, then we must all play our part,” Oba Adediran said.
