The Akamo Grassroots for Yayi support group has intensified its political mobilisation drive in Abeokuta South Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging full support for Senator Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as (Yayi ) and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.
The group said the ongoing mobilisation is aimed at strengthening grassroots structures, increasing voter awareness, and ensuring massive participation in the electoral process across communities in Ogun State.
Speaking on behalf of the group in Abeokuta on Thursday, the convener, Hon. Sunday Akamo, said the initiative is focused on political sensitisation and voter education at the community level.
“We have been telling our people to register and get their PVCs ready for APC in the forthcoming election,” Akamo said, stressing the importance of voter preparedness and civic responsibility.
He explained that mobilisation efforts have already commenced across various wards in Abeokuta South Local Government with volunteers engaging residents on the need to actively participate in the democratic process.
Hon. Akamo further disclosed that the group’s campaign is not limited to a single candidate but will extend full support to APC Governorship candidate, Senator Olamilekan Adeola popularly known as Yayi, as well as all candidates of the party.
According to him, “Our support is firmly rooted in the belief that Senator Yayi and other APC candidates represent continuity, development, and people-oriented leadership for Ogun State.”
He added that the group is building a strong grassroots structure capable of reaching every polling unit, with special attention to youth mobilisation and community engagement.
“Our strategy is simple but effective — we are going door to door, street to street, ensuring that every eligible voter understands the importance of their Permanent Voter Card and their role in shaping the future,” he said.
Hon. Akamo noted that youth inclusion remains a key focus of the group’s agenda, as efforts are being made to reduce voter apathy and encourage political participation among first-time voters.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful, issue-based mobilisation, urging residents of Abeokuta South and beyond to support APC candidates and actively participate in the 2027 elections for continued development in Ogun State.
