The Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP in Ogun State has officially declared Chief Toyin Amuzu as its flagbearer for the House of Representatives election in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The declaration on Sunday followed the party’s primary election held at the Oke-Mosan State Secretariat of the PDP, where Chief Amuzu emerged unopposed with overwhelming support from leaders and members affirming his candidacy for the forthcoming poll.
During the exercise, Mallam Bola Taiwo from Constituency 1 moved a motion affirming that Hon. Toyin Amuzu was widely accepted and duly ratified to represent the PDP in the 2027 House of Representatives election, while the motion was seconded by Alhaji Isa Orunsolu from Constituency 2.
Accreditation of members from ward 1-15 in Abeokuta South local government for the primary election was conducted by Mr. Adebayo Lateef from Ewekoro Local Government and Mr. Lateef Olowu from Ifo Local Government.
The electoral process was supervised by Prince Akeem Ade-Balogun of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC who served as the Electoral Officer for the exercise where Chie Amuzu was unanimously adopted and endorsed as the Candidate of the PDP.
Also present at the primary election were security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Department of State Services to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Chief Amuzu expressed appreciation to party leaders, members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to deliver purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected into office.
The PDP candidate promised to distinguish himself through quality legislation and impactful constituency projects capable of transforming communities across Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
He stated that his representation would be driven by inclusiveness, accountability and direct engagement with residents at the grassroots level.
According to him, his administration would prioritize projects identified by the people themselves, stressing that communities would have the opportunity to determine their developmental needs and priorities.
“I will ensure full inclusion of citizens by facilitating needed legacy projects to the grassroots. I will facilitate legacy projects in line with what the chosen representatives of the communities need. They will take their destinies into their own hands by stating their needs and I will execute both government-backed projects and my personal intervention projects,” he said.
Chief Amuzu further assured constituents of qualitative representation focused on effective lawmaking and the execution of projects with direct impact on the masses.
Party faithful and supporters who witnessed the declaration described his emergence as a significant step towards strengthening the PDP’s chances in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
