OGHA 2027 : APC Ketu Zone Endorses Akingbade Adigun for Imeko-Afon Assembly Seat


Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ketu Zone of Imeko-Afon Local Government Area have unanimously endorsed Jemili Akingbade Adigun as the party’s consensus candidate for the Imeko-Afon State Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached on Friday at a strategic meeting held at St. Patrick College, Imeko, where party leaders said the move was aimed at strengthening unity and ensuring victory across the constituency and the state.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the leaders said the endorsement aligns with directives from state party leaders and reflects the collective will of APC members in the zone.

Speaking before a communiqué,  two aspirants, Hon. Olalotan Olusegun and Hon. Aliu Onsa, jointly announced their decision to withdraw from the race.

They stated that the decision followed the adoption of Akingbade by apex leaders in the constituency, including Hon. Kayode Oladele, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, among others.

Olusegun, a former chairman of the APC in Imeko-Afon Local Government, said he and other aspirants deliberately stepped down as loyal party members, noting that the collective decision of the party must prevail.

Similarly, Hon. Aliu Onsa announced his withdrawal from the race in deference to the directive of the party’s apex leadership, stressing that the move was aimed at strengthening the progressive forces of the APC.

In his remarks, the APC chairman in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Hon. Adebolu Rahman, commended the aspirants for their sacrifices, describing their decision as a demonstration of progressive leadership and commitment to the development of the Imeko-Afon State constituency.

They also declared support for GNI continuity,  and massive mobilisation for Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi Governorhip bid.
The communique reads:”We, the principal leaders, elders, and critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ketu Zone which comprised Six Wards Namely Imeko, Okeagbede Moriwi, Ilara, Iwoye, Idofa and Kajola Agberiodo Ward in Imeko-Afon LGA, convened a strategic meeting on May 1st, 2026, at St. Patrick College, Imeko, to deliberate on strengthening party unity and strategizing towards ensuring victory in the 2027 general elections at all levels. 

“After extensive consultations and exhaustive deliberation, in total deference to the directive of our Apex Leaders for consensus building, we hereby resolve as follows:

“That the APC Ketu Zone unanimously adopts the consensus reached by our State leaders which affirms Hon. Jemili Akingbade Adigun as the consensus candidate for the Imeko-Afon State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly come 2027. This decision therefore, is unanimously agreed upon and binding on all members of the party.

“That we fully support this step, as we strongly believe, that it was taken not only in the interest of unity of our dear party, but also for the progress of Imeko-Afon local government area. Hon. Jemili Akingbade Adigun, no doubt, is a loyal party man, a grassroots mobilizer with an unmatched sphere of influence, a bridge-builder with a verifiable record of community development, and above all, embodies the core values of the progressives and the party. His candidacy represents equity, competence, and the strategic interest of the APC to retain the constituency. Simply put, he is tested and trusted.
“That, in connection with the above, we hereby direct all Ward Chairmen, Ward Executives, Youth Leaders, Women Leaders, and party faithful within the Ketu Zone of Imeko-Afon LGA to align with this resolution and commence mobilization for Hon. Akingbade and Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI ahead of the coming general elections.

“We also reaffirm our unalloyed support and unwavering loyalty to the APC under the leadership of our performing Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, and our party Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, pledging to deploy our collective political structure and resources to ensure the emergence and eventual electoral victory of Hon. Jemili Akingbade Adigun, as members of the State House of Assembly, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as member Federal House of Representative, and Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola YAYI as Governor of Ogun State.

“That we respectfully request the State Working Committee to note this resolution and provide necessary support to deepen internal democracy and party cohesion in Imeko-Afon LGA.
“This resolution was adopted without dissent and represents the collective will of the APC leadership in the Ketu Zone of the local government. We are confident that, with his experience, Hon. Akingbade will provide quality representation and strengthen the fortunes of our great party”.
