A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Wale Bello, has urged residents of Abeokuta North Local Government to support the second-term ambition of the current House of Assembly member, Hon. Dr. Babatunde Tella, in 2027.
Bello, who made this known during an interview with journalists in Abeokuta on Friday, described Tella as unmatched, insisting that no one is fit to contest against him.
Dismissing rumours of his own interest in the seat, Bello stated that he has no intention of running in 2027, stressing that he cannot contest against what he called “a great performer” and one of the best lawmakers in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
The APC chieftain maintained that rather than oppose Tella’s second-term bid, party members and constituents should persuade him to seek re-election.
He added that the former caretaker chairman has exceeded expectations, noting that his achievements speak for themselves.
“I have no plans to contest for the Abeokuta North State Constituency seat. Why should I, when we already have someone capable, visible, and who has performed beyond expectations? We can all see his impact—he has made us proud,” Bello said.
He further praised Tella’s legislative record, highlighting his contributions to bills, motions, and grassroots empowerment.
According to him, if performance is the benchmark, Tella deserves an automatic ticket for a second term.
“We should reward him by supporting his return. He deserves another term, and I can never work against him. He is a great performer,” he added.
Bello concluded by appealing to APC members in the local government and party leadership to rally behind Tella’s re-election bid in 2027.
