A prominent political leader in Abeokuta North Local Government, Mr. Steven Adetomiwa, has openly declared his support for key aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots-driven leadership and sustainable development across Ogun State.
Adetomiwa, who once contested as a senatorial candidate alongside former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has remained a visible and influential political figure in Ward 14 and the Oke-Ogun axis of Abeokuta North.
Over the years, he has built a reputation as a mobilizer, strategist, and community advocate.
Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday, Adetomiwa announced his endorsement of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, for the Ogun State governorship race in 2027.
According to him, Senator Adeola’s track record in public service and his long-standing commitment to constituency projects make him the right choice to steer Ogun State toward greater prosperity.
“Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has demonstrated capacity, competence, and compassion in leadership. His performance in the National Assembly and his dedication to empowering the people at the grassroots level stand him out as a visionary leader Ogun State needs at this critical time,” Adetomiwa said.
He noted that Senator Adeola’s numerous empowerment programmes, infrastructure interventions, and educational support initiatives across Ogun West and beyond have positively impacted thousands of lives, describing him as “a tested and trusted servant-leader.”
In the same vein, Adetomiwa declared his support for Engineer Taiwo Oludotun for the Obafemi/Owode/Odeda/Abeokuta North Federal Constituency seat, citing his administrative experience and commitment to rural development.
He praised Oludotun’s achievements in public office, particularly his strides in environmental sustainability, forestry reforms, and youth engagement initiatives across Ogun State.
“Engineer Taiwo Oludotun understands the needs of our people. His accessibility, humility, and passion for community growth make him well suited to represent our federal constituency. We need someone who will attract meaningful projects and defend our interests at the National Assembly,” Adetomiwa stated.
Adetomiwa also threw his weight behind the re-election bid of Hon. Babatunde Tella, representing Abeokuta North State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
He described Hon. Tella as a consistent lawmaker whose legislative contributions and constituency engagements have strengthened democratic representation at the state level.
“In his first term in office , Hon. Babatunde Tella has emerged as a highly active legislator, contributing significantly to lawmaking, policy development, infrastructure, and grassroots empowerment.
“Hon. Tella sponsored several important bills aimed at improving governance, economic development, and environmental regulation in Ogun State. These include the Rural and Semi-Urban Integration and Development Bill (2023), Orders of Precedence Bill, Scavengers and Waste Dealers Regulations Law (2025), Agricultural Advancement and Sustainability Bill (2025), and the Ogun State Boundary Commission Bill.
“He also co-sponsored key legislation such as the 2024 and 2025 Appropriation Laws, the Principal-General Establishment Law (2024), the Ogun State Consumer Protection Law (2024), and the Ogun State Commercial Vehicles Law.
“Through various motions, Hon. Tella addressed important issues including protecting the indigenous Adire/Kampala industry, improving road safety through reconstruction of medians, strengthening the operations of the Amotekun Corps, promoting inclusivity through sign-language interpreters in state programmes, and proposing a health trust fund for Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.
“He also worked with colleagues on motions relating to security reforms, revival of the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia, exclusive breastfeeding and maternity leave policies, decongestion of correctional centres, addressing trailer accidents, and road reconstruction projects including the Ebute-Oja-Odan/Robert International Road linking Nigeria and Benin Republic. Other efforts included ensuring indigenous participation in Lafarge Cement Plc divestment and securing toll exemptions for teachers and health workers on the Ijebu-Ode–Epe Road.
“Hon. Tella facilitated the installation of solar street lights across several communities including Kurere, Kara Rounda, Ponkuku, Koosa villages, Isaga-Orile Market, Sangote, Kogo, and Elega Market. In collaboration with Olumide Osoba, additional solar lights were provided in areas such as Olosun, Odo-Eran, Ikija, Ibara-Orile, and Tibo-Falekan.
“He also facilitated the rehabilitation of the Isaga-Orile Road through Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and borehole projects in Imala and Apata Idofoi communities.
“To support livelihoods, Hon. Tella empowered over 350 constituents with tools and financial assistance including grinding machines, sewing machines, agricultural inputs, educational materials, and cash support. He also facilitated employment opportunities in the Ogun State Civil Service, TRACE, and Amotekun Corps, while providing support to several community and religious groups. The political leader maintained that Hon Tella have a close contact with his constituents. From youth empowerment programmes to support for small businesses and community-based initiatives, his impact is visible and measurable,” he added.
