The Commissioner for Housing, Engr. Jamiu Omoniyi, made this known during a press conference in Abeokuta, where he commended Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the housing sector.
According to him, the sector has experienced remarkable growth and transformation under the present administration.
Omoniyi highlighted the success of the Ibara GRA Urban Regeneration Project, noting that over 150 modern housing units have already been delivered out of more than 200 planned.
He described the project as a major intervention that has restored dignity, order, and structure to an area previously affected by years of neglect and illegal occupation.
Looking ahead to 2026, the commissioner disclosed that the ministry would execute several landmark projects, including the construction of an International Conference Centre, a modern Banquet Hall, as well as the Appeal Court Headquarters and official residences.
He also revealed that the state would advance flagship housing developments in strategic locations, such as Prince Courts Estate at Siun along the Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway, ISEYA Court in Oke-Mosan, Havila Court in Ibara, and Havens Court in Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode.
He added that Ibara GRA regeneration scheme is also expected to continue into Phase II.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Omoniyi stated that Ogun State has delivered more housing units than all previous administrations combined and is on course to complete over 10,000 affordable homes before the end of the current administration.
He added that the planned 3,000 housing units for 2026 would include infrastructure-supported site-and-services schemes.
The commissioner acknowledged challenges faced in the sector, particularly misinformation and criticism in 2025, but stressed that the government remains focused on delivery and results.
He noted that visible transformations across communities and estates remain clear evidence of the administration’s developmental strides.
Omoniyi urged residents to continue supporting the government’s initiatives, expressing confidence that the projects outlined under the 2026 Budget of Sustainable Legacy would further strengthen public trust and position Ogun State as a benchmark for housing and urban development in Nigeria.
“The state government is committed to providing quality, affordable, and sustainable housing for its citizens.
“We have delivered more housing units than all previous administrations combined and are on track to complete over 10,000 affordable homes by the end of this administration.”
Omoniyi expressed confidence that the state’s housing investment would meet the rising demand for affordable, quality homes while driving slum regeneration and sustainable urban development.
He urged citizens to support the government’s efforts, saying, “With the continued support of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, our partners, stakeholders, and the good people of Ogun State, we are confident that the future we are building today will stand the test of time.
“Beyond these, we will advance flagship housing developments across strategic locations, including Prince Courts Estate at Siun along Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway; ISEYA Court, Oke-Mosan; Havila Court, Ibara; and Havens Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, alongside the continued Regeneration Scheme of Ibara GRA through Phase II.
“These initiatives are firmly aligned with the Year 2026 Budget of Sustainable Legacy, as eloquently articulated by His Excellency during the budget presentation.
“The strength of this commitment is evident in tangible outcomes across the State. The completed and several other landmark projects reflects enduring symbols of progress. Notably, work continues steadily on the Ibara GRA Urban Regeneration Project, where over 150 modern housing units have already been delivered out of more than 200 planned, restoring dignity, order, and structure to an area that had previously suffered years of neglect and illegal occupation.
“In line with the 2026 budget projections, the sector is also poised to deliver an additional 3,000 units of affordable housing across the State, including infrastructure-supported site-and-services schemes.
“While we remain justifiably proud of our sterling achievements, we are not oblivious to the challenges encountered along the way.
“The Year 2025 witnessed the activities of naysayers and purveyors of misinformation, with the housing sector receiving its fair share of unfounded criticism. We remain undeterred. As a resilient, focused, and progressive sector, we choose facts over fiction, delivery over distraction, and results over rhetoric.
“The visible transformation across communities and estates in the State stands as unquestionable evidence of the genuine developmental strides of this administration.
“In conclusion, distinguished members of the press, the Year 2026 presents yet another opportunity to deepen impact, expand access, and consolidate public trust as we work tirelessly to deliver His Excellency’s vision as encapsulated in the 2026 Budget of Sustainable Legacy.
