The Kutites ’95 Family of Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School (RKMGS), Isabo, Abeokuta, on Saturday celebrated its 30th Graduation Anniversary with pomp, reflections, and renewed commitment to the development of the alma mater.
The landmark event held over the weekend organised under the aegis of the Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School Old Students’ Association (RKMGSOSA), attracted eminent personalities from government, traditional institutions, and the old students’ community.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; Abeokuta North All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde; the National President of RKMGSOSA, Mr. Babatunde Oguntoyinbo; and the Royal Father of the Day, His Royal Highness, Oba Philip Olusegun Ogunsola, the Orunda of Olorunda. Also present were the Patron and Chairman of the Day, Mr. Josiah Olakunle Oyesiku, and the Principal of RKMGS Senior School, Mr. Lasisi Temitope Samuel.
As part of the anniversary celebration, deserving individuals were honoured for their outstanding contributions. The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, received the Distinguished Old Student Role Model Award, while the National President, Mr. Babatunde Oguntoyinbo, was presented with the Excellence Performance Award. The State Coordinator of Kutites ’95 Family, Mr. Oluwaseun Akinpelu, was also honoured with a Diligent Service Award in recognition of his leadership and dedication.
Speaking at the event, the National President of the association commended the Kutites ’95 Family for their steadfastness, unity, and consistent support for the progress of the old students’ body, describing the set as one of the best-performing within the association.
He urged members to sustain the spirit of love, unity, and collective assistance towards the continuous development of the school.
In his keynote address, the State Coordinator, Kutite Oluwaseun Akinpelu, described the occasion as a celebration of heritage, discipline, excellence, enduring friendships, and shared legacy.
He expressed gratitude to Almighty God for His guidance over the past three decades and reflected on the journey from youthful aspirations to accomplished adulthood.
Akinpelu, who has served as Set Coordinator since 2019, emphasized that the achievements recorded by the Kutites ’95 Family were products of collective sacrifice, unity, and shared purpose.
He highlighted major interventions undertaken by the set, including the reconstruction of a collapsed section of the school perimeter fence to enhance security and aesthetics.
He further noted that the set instituted awards to recognise outstanding students in core subjects in 2021, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence.
According to him, the set has also distinguished itself at the national level through prompt payment of levies and dues, demonstrating accountability and responsibility.
The coordinator disclosed that the Kutites ’95 Family had contributed ₦500,000 towards the redesign of the school gate, with a firm pledge to donate an additional ₦500,000, bringing the total commitment to ₦1 million. He described the gesture as a testament to the set’s unwavering bond with the institution.
Beyond infrastructural projects, Akinpelu explained that the set established a Welfare Committee to support members through non-interest soft loans, assistance during bereavements, support for social celebrations, and recognition of academic milestones achieved by members’ children.
As part of the anniversary, special recognition awards were also presented to deserving members, friends, and supporters of the Kutites ’95 Family.
The coordinator urged members to remember and honour departed classmates who could not witness the celebration, while expressing gratitude for the gift of life.
Akinpelu thanked the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, the royal father, distinguished guests, school authorities, teachers, and members of the Anniversary Planning Committee for their roles in making the celebration memorable.
He called on members to remain united, purposeful, and committed to preserving the legacy of excellence, service, and honour associated with Rev. Kuti Memorial Grammar School.
