The meeting, held ahead of the dry season, brought together key actors from both communities to chart sustainable solutions for peace and economic stability.
In his address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter ethics affairs Hadi Sani noted that the dry season typically witnesses heightened tension due to increased pressure on grazing and farming resources.
Hadi said the seasonal farmers/herders conflicts challenge them to be proactive ahead of any potential escalation.
Stakeholders from various farm settlements, villages, and Fulani communities were also present, contributing firsthand experiences on the root causes of disputes.
During the deliberations, participants unanimously acknowledged that collaboration, rather than confrontation, remains the most effective pathway to lasting peace.
They agreed on the importance of strengthening early-warning mechanisms and reporting structures to enable swift resolution of emerging tensions.
As the dry season approaches, Hadi Sani reiterated that preventive measures are more effective than reactive interventions.
He reaffirmed the state’s unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence noting that sustained dialogue, mutual respect, and responsible land use practices are essential for maintaining harmony and ensuring Ogun State’s continued socio-economic progress.
In attendance are the Hon Commissioner for Agriculture Hon Bolu Owotomo, Prince Dasaolu Adesegun, Chairman of Southwest Commodity farmers, Alh Kabir Labar, Southwest Coordinator of MACBAN, Representatives of different farm settlements and villages, head of Fulani of different settlements among other stakeholders.
