They made the appeal at the 2025 International Youth Day celebration organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists ,NUJ Consolidated Chapel, Ogun State Council, with the theme “Youth Employment for a Sustainable Future”
Guest Speaker and State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ,NDLEA, Commander Tijani Rabe, expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of drug abuse among young people in the state.
Commander Rave also lamented the absence of a functional, government-owned rehabilitation centre in Ogun State, stressing the need for such a facility to treat and reintegrate drug-dependent youths.
Delivering the keynote address, the Convener of The Alternative, Chief Segun Sowunmi, urged youths to keep their dreams alive, stay disciplined, and remain committed to building a prosperous Ogun State and Nigeria.
Also,the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Affairs, Comrade Olamide Lawal, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people to reach their full potential.
In her remarks, Acting Chairman of the Consolidated Chapel, Bose Akintunde, commended the resilience of Nigerian youths despite economic hardships and encouraged them to embrace skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and lawful employment to secure their future.
