Adedeji has accused Sanyaolu of arbitrary abuse of power, financial misconduct, and gross mismanagement of workers’ contributions.
This was disclosed press statement released on Saturday, Adedeji painted a damning picture of the state of affairs in the NCSU, describing the union’s current leadership under Sanyaolu as dictatorial and a threat to the integrity of the century-old labour movement.
The Vice Chairman particularly faulted the "unconstitutional" State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on July 31, 2025, describing it as a “kangaroo” gathering orchestrated solely by Comrade Sanyaolu.
According to Adedeji, the Chairman presided over the meeting in the absence of five key members of the State Administrative Council (SAC), and without the required two-thirds majority of SEC members, thereby rendering any decisions taken at the meeting invalid.
He added that during the controversial meeting, Comrade Sanyaolu allegedly attempted to install a new State Auditor, Comrade Folashade Omoyele, despite the position being already occupied by a duly elected officer, Comrade Oluwaseun Samuel Oloyede.
He said “The Vice Chairman’s statement also centred on the alleged financial misconduct involving the NCSU Retirement Savings and Loans Scheme, a welfare scheme meant to assist civil servants with retirement savings and accessible loans.
“It is therefore saddened that a character like Asunmo ever emerged as our Council Chairman. In one of the videos that recorded the charade, Comrade Ismail Oladipupo Sanyaolu was seen presiding and unilaterally taking decisions without other five (5) State Administrative Council (SAC) members in attendance.
“The shenanigan included a kangaroo election of the State Auditor which ought not to be, as the position is being occupied by a substantive elected Auditor in person of Comrade Oluwaseun Samuel Oloyede while the only vacant position, due to the demise of its occupant, Comrade Tajudeen Sorinmade, whose election ought to be a bye-election of the special delegates conference of the Union, subject to the approval and conduct of the National Secretariat of our great Union.
Comrade Adedeji accused Sanyaolu of mismanaging funds from the scheme, including disbursing multimillion-naira loans to individuals outside the union, notably a businessman, Mr. Sofoluwe of Stephanie Motors, and a former NCSU Chairman in the FCT, Comrade Odebunmi — without repayment records or proper approvals.
He also alleged that under Sanyaolu’s tenure, members were denied small loans, even in critical situations, while funds were generously lent to outsiders.
The Savings Scheme, according to Adedeji, has become a personal venture for the Chairman, with committee appointments dominated by loyalists, friends, and relatives.
The embattled Chairman was also accused of making questionable financial decisions, including transferring ₦20 million from the union’s scheme to the National Secretariat in February 2025 on the request of the National President, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye Sunday, without proper documentation or evidence of repayment.
“It will interest you to know that Comrade Sanyaolu has been the principal signatory to the several bank accounts of the Union, ditto the Savings Scheme bank accounts in which he unilaterally appointed his stooges, relatives, and close allies, but are also members who are not professionals in the field.
“It's disheartening to tell you that we have records of civil servants that are members of this Savings Scheme who needed N100,000 to safe life, pay school fees, settle rents, clear hospital bills and many other very important reasons at one time or the other, yet they couldn't access loans from this Scheme due to the favouritism nature of the Chairman and the Scheme Committee yet, Comrade Sanyaolu in actual fact has been lending out millions of naira from this our Scheme to private and business individuals, who are not members and as well, are not civil servants.
Adedeji further disclosed that Comrade Sanyaolu operates with a bloated number of aides and consultants, many of whom earn monthly stipends from the union’s funds.
He named groups such as the "Asunmo Solidarity Movement" as beneficiaries of regular cash transfers.
The Vice Chairman also questioned the rationale behind a N500 million loan proposed by the Sanyaolu-led SAC to complete a guest house project in Kobape Village.
According to him, there was no transparent consultation or approval before the acquisition of the land, and the project has since stalled following opposition from other SAC members
