The National President of the Alumni Association, Amb. Emmanuel Obi-Okafor made this known during a courtesy visit to the office of the Ogun State Deputy Governor, adding that Ogun State boasts of an array of Distinguished Mnis informing that the idea of concretising the Institute was also initiated by an Ogun State indigene in 1978.
According to him NIPSS was envisioned to serve as a center for policy research, reflection and dialogue, as well as a platform for developing top-tier technocrats capable of conceptualizing and implementing innovative policy initiatives, noting that the institute's core objectives includes policy research, training, advocacy, publishing, and conference hosting.
He commended the current administration for making the State to a destination of choice for both investors and visitors alike, saying the Executives of the Institute National Alumni body was in the state to inaugurate the state's chapter, stressing that he was proud that the State chapter has a collection of experts in various fields of endeavors who are making the State proud.
In her remarks, the Ogun State Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said it gave her great pleasure to receive the high-powered delegation of the Alumni team from the National Institute, noting that the institute has in no small way improved human capacity development of the citizens of Nigeria at large.
Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele said that the current administration in Ogun State was committed to ensuring that the state remains a state of many first, adding that looking at the crop of Mni's from the state, shows that it is only the best of the best gets the rare chance of undertaking the sought-after course.
She used the opportunity to advocate for more gender balance in the selection process of participants to the Institute, opining that there could never be too many women involved in policy making, saying everyone should have an input, especially in the renewed bid to get a symmetrical view in decision making at all levels.
The Deputy Governor informed that the state Government is focused on supporting the institute, and will not relent in ensuring that its personnel are adequately trained whenever the need arises.
