Speaking at the event, Professor Olomu reiterated his commitment to accountability and transparency, revealing that he had submitted all relevant financial accounts to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) for scrutiny.
“We appointed 682 Christians and 482 Muslims. It’s not as if we didn’t do what we were supposed to do,” he explained, adding that his leadership had impacted every department within the institution.
“Whatever is in my account have submitted to ICPC to scrutinize and they have also screened . And if they want to check that of my wife and my family they are free to do so .
“Even as a surgeon, there’s no department that will say we didn’t do anything for them.We have just started, there’s a lot that we are still going to do . We will continue to do what will benefit our community till we enter the grave .”
The guest lecturer of the event Professor Abdul Hafiz Oladosu, described Olomu as “the celebrated, not just the celebrant,” applauding his legacy of excellence, integrity, and spiritual discipline.
In his lecture Titled : Leadership in a Challenging Terrain: The Nigerian System as a Context Prof. Oladosu emphasized the rarity of leaders who, like Olomu, embody the qualities of a “honeybee ,taking only what is good and producing only what is good.”
He further invoked Islamic teachings on the gravity of leadership responsibility, quoting prophetic traditions that warn of its burden and divine accountability.
“Eight years in office amounts to 2,920 days. That’s 2,920 days of stewardship to be accounted for before Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgment,” he noted.
Despite being celebrated, Prof. Olomu was also urged to embrace humility and seek divine forgiveness. “You have done well, but you must continue to beg Allah,” Prof. Oladosu advised, reflecting on the imperfections of human leadership.
The Ameer of the Muslim Community at FMC, Dr. Sulaiman Anoba, in his welcome address, underscored the spiritual weight of leadership in Islam. “Leadership is a delicate trust. The Prophet (peace be upon him) warned that it could be a source of humiliation on the Day of Judgment if mishandled,” he said, while commending Professor Olomu for being a “just leader” and an example to follow.

" You are not just an administrator, you are a leader, a man endowed with spiritual depth, unwavering determination and an intellectual brilliance that shines even in the darkest moments of uncertainty. Your legacy is built on tireless work , sincere devotion and a vision that refuses to bow to mediocrity.
" Within the 8 years of your stewardship, what you have built, what you restored and what you reimagined have left footprints that time will struggle to erase".
Tributes poured in from all quarters, celebrating Olomu’s transformative leadership which saw significant strides in infrastructure development, human capital empowerment, and interfaith inclusivity.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a compendium titled “Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu: The Strides, The Legacies, and The Echoes” by Professor Dawud Noibi, the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN).
