The Rotary International has conferred one of its highest awards of 'Major Donors' on the 2019 gubernatorial aspirant of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in Ogun State, Mrs. Jackie Kassim.
The award is given by the Rotary Foundation to individuals or couples whose personal or combined contributions reach $10,000, regardless of the gift designation, and offer recognition through crystal pieces and pins.
Decorating Mrs Kassim, who is also the President of Rotary Club, Ota, with the insignia of the 'Major Donors' Award at the weekend, in Ota, Ogun State, the representative of the Rotary International, Funke Salau, commended the selfless service and generous donations by her to the humanitarian organization.
She noted that the awardee's donations have contributed immensely to the hundreds of millions of dollars given in grants annually to Rotary Clubs throughout the world for humanitarian projects and vocational empowerment.
She, however, urged other leaders and members of the Club to emulate the altruistic gestures of the industrialist by contributing towards helping the Rotary Foundation to carry out its humanitarian activities in terms of various interventions.
Responding, the awardee thanked the Rotary International for the honour, saying the recognition would spur her to do more for the humanitarian organization.
She added that been an industrialist has availed her the opportunity to contribute to the development of the society and upliftment of humanity.
Mrs Kassim, who pledged to remain committed to the growth of humanity, stressed that Rotary Club has further honed her desires and passion to help the needy in the society.
She, however, urged members of the Club to always put the betterment of the society at the front burner and continue to donate to the Rotary Foundation, towards making life better for many people in the society.
While dedicating the honour to members of Rotary Club of Ota for their support, Mrs Kassim submitted that she would continue to use her God-given resources to champion humanitarian causes and services.
