Obafemi Owode LG Boss Presents 2025 Budget, Commissions Newly Renovated Legislative Chamber

The Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA has presented year 2025 Draft Budget of the sum of Nine Billion, Sixty-Nine Million, One Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety-nine Naira( N9,069,142,699.00) to the Legislative Council, tagged"Budget of Growth and Sustainable Development", amid funfair.

Amb. Ogunsola appreciated His Excellency, Prince Dr.Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State for his transformation across the state while he reviewed the performances of the year 2024 Budget inspite  its challenges, especially due to nationwide economic adjustments and rising demands on public resources. Nonetheless, we remained focused and resolute in the implementation of key developmental programs. 

He explained that the total projected revenue in year 2024 was N5,273,697,774.00 which internally Generated Revenue (IGR) was N212,600,000.00, Federal Statutory Allocation N 4,875,097,774.00, State Allocation N40,000,000.00, Value Added Tax(VAT) N40,000,000.00, Extraordinary Items N91,000,000.00. 
He stressed that by the end of the fiscal year, the Local Government generated N89,699,850.00 in IGR, representing 42% of the targeted figure. Federal Allocation received was N4,124,324,560.30 approximately 85% of the Budgeted amount and N30,897,733.95 was received as a grant from the Ogun State government.

Correspondingly, the Expenditure for year 2024 was allocated as follow; Personnel Cost and Allowance N1,081,247,774.00 which was 20% of the Budget, Overhead Cost N356,400,000.00, represent 7%, Capital Expenditure N640,950,000.00 at 12% and Consolidated Revenue Fund Charges of N3,195,250,000 at 61% respectively.

" The 2025 Budget has been prepared to reflect the economic realities of our Local Government and to address the developmental needs of our people, as we are aware of the challenges posed by limited revenue and rising demands, our resolve  remain unshaken", said Council boss. 

He further reiterated the commitments of his Administration to transparency, accountability and growth of all and sundry, as he seeked the cooperation and prompt passage of the Appropriation Bill to enable us to commence full implementation for the benefit of all residents of Obafemi Owode Local Government.

Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, Member, Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Obafemi Owode State Constituency while commissioning the newly renovated and refurbished Legislative Chamber, commended Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA for making it a  priority in renovating the legislative Chamber, as he has never been disappointed with his choice at the helms of affair.

He therefore encouraged the Councillors to continue supporting the council boss with developmental legislation.

Hon. Saheed Ariyibi, Leader of the Legislative House, Obafemi Owode Local Government in his speech said the existing cordial relationship between the 9th Legislative Arm and the Executive has not in anyway hindered the performance of their constitutional roles and duties.

He said the responsiveness and readiness of the Honourable House to pass pro-people and pro-development legislation is rightly on course in giving the Executive Chairman much needed cooperation to perform, as he appreciates the support of the Executive arm to the Legislative Council.

While he assured that the  legislators will meticulously perform their constitutional duty, as they will start working on the 2025 Draft Budget with the assurance of giving it fair hearing and passage  on the floor of the house without delay.

Similarly, the council boss paid an inspection visits to the ongoing construction of Police Station at Orile Imo, and 2 blocks of 10 classrooms at Maba Community axis of Obafemi Owode Local Government.

His Royal Highness, Oba Reuben Oluwambe  Sogaolu, Olu of Orile Imo thanked the government for keying into their initiative, as he said the aim of facilitating the projects is to partner with the government in curbing the crime couples with the fast development in the Orile Imo axis.

He further explained that the police station is going to be equipped with facilities like armoury section, strongroom where sensitive materials could be kept in time of election, fire fighter section among others .

In the same vein, High Chief Rotimi Adesina Orunsolu, Baale Maba Community expressed his gratitude to the government for  supporting them in achieving the construction of 2 blocks of 10 classrooms in the area.

He stressed that before the construction of the edifice, pupils were used to cross the highway to attend classes which posed a lot of danger.

He further requested the government to assist in deploying teachers to the school, as they can not afford further delay in the running of academic seasons in the school.

The Council boss has equally assured the community of the necessary manpower towards smooth running of the academics at the resumption of the schools.
