As Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta North Local Government, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, has called on Nigerians to use the occasion to pray for the nation’s unity, security, and progress.
She emphasized the importance of peace and togetherness in fostering national development.
In her statement issued to newsmen on Saturday, Alhaja Sarumi Akintunde congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, highlighting the significance of the holy month as a period of self-discipline, spiritual growth, and devotion to Allah.
She urged them to carry forward the lessons learned during Ramadan, especially the values of love, tolerance, and charity.
The APC Chairman stressed that Nigeria, like many nations, faces challenges that require collective efforts to overcome.
She noted that insecurity, economic struggles, and political tensions can be addressed through prayers, unity, and cooperation among citizens and leaders at all levels.
She, therefore, called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith and committed to national development.
“Eid-el-Fitr is not only a time for celebration but also a moment of reflection on the country’s journey towards peace and prosperity.
“l encourage Nigerians to embrace the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation, which are core teachings of Islam, in order to foster harmony in communities.
“ I also used the opportunity to commend the efforts of the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun in promoting infrastructural development and social welfare. “
The APC Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the APC in Abeokuta North to supporting policies and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
She called on party members and residents of Abeokuta North to remain law-abiding and work together for the progress of the local government.
Alhaja Faidat emphasized that only through unity and cooperation can meaningful development be achieved at the grassroots level.
