Ogun NUJ Set for 2024 Press Week , To Discuss Media’s Role in Agricultural Development

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Chapter, has announced the lineup of activities for its 2024 Press Week, themed “Unlocking the Potentials of Agriculture for Economic Development: The Roles of the Media.” 

The weeklong event aimed to spotlight the critical intersection of media and agriculture in driving economic growth while fostering professional development among journalists.

The program will kick off on Sunday, December 8, 2024, with a Church Thanksgiving Service at Victory Life Bible Church, Abeokuta, from 10 AM to 12 PM.

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the official opening ceremony and symposium will take place at the Aremo Olusegun Osoba Hall, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, from 10 AM to 2 PM. 

Distinguished speakers will discuss the theme, shedding light on the media’s role in promoting agricultural development.

Tuesday, December 10, 2024, is dedicated to training and capacity building for journalists, also at Iwe Iroyin, from 10 AM to 3 PM.

The program continues on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, with a Great Trek/Health Walk, starting at 7 AM. The walk will commence from Iwe Iroyin, pass through major routes including GTBank, CBN, Omida, and Oke-Ilewo, and return to Iwe Iroyin. 
Later in the day, there will be Chapel Variety Hours at Iwe Iroyin at 3 PM, 

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, participants will begin the day at 7 AM with a Know Your Health Status session at Iwe Iroyin. By midday, the NUJ will Give Back to Society with a visit to Oba Prison at 12 PM. The day will conclude with a Hangout with House of Assembly Members at Iwe Iroyin at 4 PM.


The week will wrap up on Friday, December 13, 2024, with a Jumat Service at Nawarudeen Central Mosque, Abeokuta, at 1 PM.

Followed by The Grand Finale Dinner and Awards Night  at 6 PM at the President Muhammadu Buhari Telemedicine Hall, Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
