The CEO of Olageospatial Global Investment Company (OGIC), surveyor Fashina Olajide has sponsored a programme organize by the Accurate Creative Mind Foundation which is aimed at sensitizing young people about the dangers of drug abuse.
This, the OGIC boss said it was in a bid to addressed the escalating issue of drug abuse among youth.
Olajide, while sensitizing the students of Lafenwa High School, Ayetoro road Abeokuta on Tuesday
said he has been committed to nurture the next generation and instilling in them the values of healthy living.
Drawing from his own experiences and recognizing the pivotal role education plays in shaping individuals and societies, Olajide has pledged his support to sponsor programs geared towards raising awareness about the perils of drug abuse.
Highlighting the urgent need for intervention, Olajide emphasized the link between drug abuse and the proliferation of social vices, citing the alarming trends in regions such as the North-East and North-West of the country.
He noted the correlation between lack of proper education, inadequate sensitization on drug abuse, and the surge in criminal activities, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency.
"With the abandonment of Almajiri children due to lack of education and awareness about drug abuse, we are witnessing a cycle of despair that perpetuates violence and instability," Olajide remarked.
Expressing concern over the prolonged struggle against these societal challenges, Olajide stressed the importance of early intervention to steer vulnerable youth away from negative influences.
He underscored the pivotal role of education in empowering individuals to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
Addressing the youth directly, Olajide issued a heartfelt call to action, urging them to seize the opportunity to prioritize their education and cultivate positive habits.
