The Owu kingdom is set to discover new talents in the area of sport through its annual Oba Saka Matemilola Football Competition.
The football competition which is scheduled to kick start by May 2024, according to the Coordinator who is also the Balogun Owudotun and Akinlagun of Owu kingdom, Chief Oluseyi Adediran disclosed that the football competition is part of the Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola's moves to disabuse the minds of Owu youths and Ogun state at large from social vices.
Adediran noted that the narratives of cultism and drug is becoming alarming among the younger generation in the state, hence, the need to engage them in sporting activities.
He said the competition which started last year will have in attendance, a former Super Eagles coach, Bonfrere Jo who will be picking the best talents in the competition.
The coordinator further stressed that the former coach will be awarding cash and scholarship to the best young player, best coach, best team among others.
Adediran said the lucky participants stands the chance of relocating to Holland to continue their sporting career.
He said " We thank God for Kabiesi, his passion for youths development is there. We want to discourage our youths from involving in different social vices that is why we started last year and this year Kabiesi met one of his good friends, former super Eagles coach, Bonfere Jo in Holland last year and he's promised to come to Ogun state to pick some of our talented footballers in Owu through the football competition.
"He will be awarding best coach and best team.We have 15 teams that have already registered and forms are still available for people to buy. There are different awards such as cash and some other Rewards

The Coordinator stressed that sales of form for the competition will close by the end of April.
