Considering the spate of insecurity and other vices in Nigeria, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, Commandant David Idowu Ojelabi mni, has doused the tension by assuring the Ogun State people and its lawful inhabitants of watertight security and protection from the Corps as the command deploys 2,215 personnel across its 74 formations before, during and after the celebrations.
Commandant Ojelabi disclosed this during his various chats with journalists on the preparedness of the Civil Defence Corps in the State towards a hitch-free easter celebration across the Gateway State, at the State Command recently.
According to the State Commandant "Top ranking officers have also been deployed to monitor the activities of its personnel across the State Command's 14 Area Commands and 60 Divisional Offices in the State" he emphasised.
Furthermore, the State Command's helmsman noted that various tactical units including: the counter-terrorism, anti-vandal, agro-rangers, special female squad amongst others have been mandated to cover all red spots and crowdy areas across the State for protection and safety of the civilian population.
Meanwhile, he submitted that the Corps is already overseeing the protection of churches on a timely basis hence the Easter Service won't pose any difficulty whatsoever being a part of the routine of the Corps towards the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure (PCNAI) in the State.
"I have also mandated the State Command's ambulance to be on standby for any eventualities even though we don't pray for any during the celebration.
"I also urge the Ogun people to reach out to the State Command via the various phone lines that will be handed down for any emergency or call any nearest Civil Defence Corps Office across the State" he added.
I want to wish our christian brothers and sisters in Ogun State and its environs a happy and fulfilling easter celebration while also advising them to celebrate moderately and with caution.
The Ogun Civil Defence Corps will also be working assiduously with other sister security agencies to ensure a crime-free Ogun State before, during and after the easter celebration and festivities.
