The Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF) has launched the Sisi in Tech initiative to equip young women with practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital skills required to compete in today's technology-driven economy.
The foundation said the initiative targets female university students with training in AI, digital productivity, data analytics and other emerging technology skills to enhance employability, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Founder of AACCF, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, said the programme was designed to expose young women to AI before graduation, enabling them to remain competitive in an increasingly digital workforce.
Azeez said the two-day training was not intended to produce AI professionals but to spark participants' interest in AI and encourage continuous learning towards expertise.
She disclosed that more than 120 students were participating in the programme, describing it as part of the foundation's commitment to promoting digital literacy, innovation and women's economic empowerment through technology.
According to her, the foundation also plans to introduce Bobo in Tech, a similar initiative aimed at equipping young men with AI and digital skills.
Delivering a keynote address entitled, "Your Future Begins with One Decision," Microsoft Chief Growth and AI Officer for the Middle East and Africa Growth Market, Mrs. Ola Williams, urged participants to embrace technology and pursue their goals with determination.
Williams recounted growing up in Abeokuta, where she hawked to support her parents, saying perseverance, clear goals and resilience helped her overcome challenges and build a successful career in technology.
She said her interest in technology was inspired after hearing a discussion on the future of computer technology, a moment that motivated her to study Computer Science and eventually join Microsoft.
The technical sessions, facilitated by Data Science Nigeria, featured training on AI Foundations and Prompt Engineering, AI for Productivity and Work, and AI in Data and Analytics, while Wema Bank and health experts delivered sessions on financial literacy and women's health, respectively.
