Yayi Progressives Movement Unveils Plan to Mobilise Support for APC Ahead of 2027 General Elections

A newly formed political coalition, the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), has announced its official inauguration as part of efforts to galvanise grassroots support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State ahead of 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a press briefing, on Wednesday , the State Coordinator of the movement, Olusegun Kaka, described the inauguration scheduled for Sunday 3 May 2026, as “a strategic convergence of progressive forces determined to shape the political future of Ogun State.”

Kaka explained that the YPM brings together political groups, youth constituencies and stakeholders from across the state under the leadership of its convener, Armstrong ’Tope Akintunde.
“The YPM is not a peripheral actor in the present political equation of Ogun State. It is a central, disciplined and result-oriented force with the depth and grassroots reach required to shape the emerging political landscape,” he said.

He added that the group pledged strong support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his reform agenda.

“His bold economic reforms, though demanding in the short term, are restoring stability, rebuilding confidence and laying the foundation for long-term national prosperity,” Kaka stated.

At the state level, kaka praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for infrastructural development and economic policies that have strengthened Ogun’s industrial growth.

He also acknowledged the contributions of elder statesman Olusegun Osoba and other party leaders for sustaining progressive ideals in the state.

Reaffirming its mission, the YPM coordinator declared readiness to mobilise support for the re-election of President Tinubu and all APC candidates in Ogun State, while strongly backing Solomon Adeola’s governorship ambition.

“Senator Adeola’s proven track record, legislative experience and deep grassroots connection make him the clear and compelling choice for a state poised for accelerated development and inclusive governance,” Kaka added.

As part of the inauguration, the movement will commission campaign buses to take its message across communities and honour loyal members, including the decoration of Patrons and Matrons.

“The message is unmistakable, Ogun State is ready. The people are mobilised. Victory is not only possible — it is inevitable,” he concluded.
Leaders present at the event were:
Deputy State Coordinator Olanrewaju Lookman Yakubu, Apex Leaders Kehinde Odeneye and Olayiwola Olutunji, Apex Member Anthony Ayodele, Secretary Olatunji Olojede, Woman Leader Keji Oduneye, Youth Coordinator Ahmed Sheik, and Public Relations Officer Akilo Akeem, among others.
