The ceremony was more than just a celebration of love, it was a masterclass in marital wisdom, presided over by some of the most respected figures in the state.
While speaking with newsmen at the ceremony on Saturday, the bride, Ayomikun Elizabeth Odumosu, described her new husband as a pillar of kindness and patience.
“He treats me like a princess even though I trouble him every single day," she joked. Beyond the romance, she looked forward to a partnership of substance, citing their plans to build businesses and raise a family together.
Saheed, visibly moved, referred to his bride as "his Queen Ayo."
"She’s been with me through my toughest times and my happiest moments," he shared. "I pray that God blesses our bond and extends it until eternity."
The event was graced by the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Ogun State, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, who delivered a stern yet loving charge to the couple.
She emphasized the danger of "third parties" in marriage. "There is no perfect home," she noted. "They should know how to manage their home without intruders, because immediately they open that door, it’s usually very difficult to close."
Meanwhile the Father of the Day Barrister Sunday Oduntan represented by Ayotunde Ogunnowo reminded the couple to sustain their upbringing, urging the husband to love his wife as the Bible dictates and the wife to remain supportive and submissive.
Dr. Funke Pickering Nee Olumegbon, the Mother of the Day, highlighted the bride's professional and personal excellence. "Saheed is a fortunate man, he has married a jewel," she said, noting Elizabeth’s career as a medical doctor and her "giving heart."
In a touching revelation, the National President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria Mr Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin who’s also a friend to the bride’s father shared his deep history with the bride’s family.
He recalled babysitting Elizabeth in London over 20 years ago while her parents worked.
“She’s like a daughter to me," he said, expressing pride in her achievements as a qualified medical doctor in the UK.
The bride’s mother, Olayinka Odumosu, expressed overwhelming joy. “I feel blessed today and give glory to Almighty God. This is my third daughter getting married. She must be patient and tolerant. They should not bring third parties into their family and must put God first in all they do,” she said.
Also speaking, the bride’s father, Banji Odumosu, described the moment as fulfilling. “I give glory to Almighty God who gave me the privilege. They should keep their issues within themselves and resolve them without exposing their home,” he advised.
The groom’s parents also shared heartfelt messages. His father, Korede Shittu, said, “I feel like a fulfilled man and I will advise them to sort out their problems within themselves and not allow third parties to intervene.”
His mother, Munirat Yetunde Shittu, added, “I feel extremely overjoyed. They should trust and understand each other because trust brings everlasting marriage.”
The event ended with prayers, celebration and goodwill wishes as guests rejoiced with the newlyweds and prayed for a long, happy and blessed marriage.
