The Arewa Community in Osun State has officially flagged off campaign activities in support of the governorship ambition of Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
The event, held in Ikire on Friday drew community leaders, party faithful and residents who gathered to demonstrate solidarity ahead of the election.
The campaign kickoff was led by the coordinator of the Arewa Community in the state, Umar Mohammad, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Non-Indigenes to former governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He described the flag-off as a significant step in mobilising northern residents across the state for the election.
Speaking at the event in Ikire, Mohammad said the gathering symbolised unity and political inclusion of non-indigenes in the state’s democratic process.
He stressed that the Arewa community remains committed to peaceful participation and constructive engagement in Osun politics.
“We are proud to officially begin this campaign in Ikire, the hometown of our candidate. This flag-off demonstrates the readiness of the Arewa community to actively support a candidate we believe will deliver good governance,” he said.
The event also witnessed the presence of the Seriki Hausa and the Imam of the Hausa community in the town, who offered prayers for peaceful campaigns and a successful electoral process.
Mohammad noted that the Arewa community has long contributed to the social and economic growth of Osun State and deserves continued recognition and inclusion.
“Our people live, work and invest here. We believe in the future of this state and will support leadership that promotes unity and development,” he added.
He urged members of the community across all local governments to mobilise and work closely with the All Progressives Congress to ensure victory at the polls.
According to him, collective effort and peaceful participation remain the key to achieving the desired outcome.
The coordinator called on residents of the state to support the APC candidate, expressing confidence that the campaign would continue to gain momentum across Osun in the coming months.
Notable attendees included Mallam Garba Gambo, Chairman of the Hausa Community APC in Osun State; Mallam Hussain, State Youth Leader of the Arewa Community APC; Mallam Ibrahim Sani; Alhaji Rabiu Ile Ife; Mallam Sulaiman Bala; and Mallam Abba Yau, among others.
