The event, held at Ago-Oko in Abeokuta North over the weekend brought together religious leaders, community stakeholders, and residents for spiritual reflection and community engagement.
Aside from the spiritual gathering, the councillor also empowered several residents involved in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with cash support to help boost their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The initiative was aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting grassroots economic development within the ward.
Speaking during the programme, Hon.Ojoye urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the financial support given to them.
According to him, the empowerment initiative was designed to help small-scale business owners grow and become more self-reliant.
“I want to encourage the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously for the purpose it was meant for. The aim is to support your businesses so that you can grow economically and support your families,” the councillor said.
The Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Kabir Tiwalade Akingbade, who is the State Secretary of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, emphasised the importance of seeking divine guidance in challenging times.
“With the way things are in the world today, with countries fighting each other and different crises happening everywhere, we need to listen more to the word of God. It is only God we can call upon for peace and guidance,” Akingbade stated.
He noted that the theme of the lecture, which focused on the responsibilities of a master to a servant and a servant to a master, was very relevant to leadership and followership in society.
“As leaders in this country, we have responsibilities to the people we lead, and the followers also have responsibilities to their leaders. Everyone must play their role for society to function properly,” he said.
Akingbade also encouraged more men to participate actively in religious gatherings, noting that women often dominate attendance at such events.
“When programmes like this are organised, women are usually the ones who attend in large numbers, even in churches. I want to appeal to our fellow men to also create time to attend and listen to the word of God,” he said.
Delivering the lecture, the guest speaker, Alhaji Sheikh Abdul Akeem Aduramigba, spoke extensively on the topic “The Responsibility of Master to Servant and the Responsibility of Servant to Master.”
He explained that Islam teaches mutual respect, kindness, and responsibility between leaders and those under them.
“The master must treat the servant with kindness and fairness, while the servant must also remain loyal and hardworking so as to make the master proud and not bring shame,” Aduramigba said.
He further emphasised the importance of good neighbourliness in Islam, quoting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
“Prophet Muhammad taught us that we must not do evil to those around us. We should always treat our neighbours with kindness and do good to them,” he added.
The spiritual father of the day, Sheikh Alhaji Abdul Akeem Garuba, offered prayers for Hon. Ojoye, commending him for organising the first Ramadan lecture in the history of Ward 3, Ago-Oko, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
Also speaking, the Ward Chairman and Chief Host of the event, Mr. Akeem Kasumu, expressed appreciation to the councillor for the initiative, noting that the programme had both spiritual and economic benefits for the people of the ward.
He particularly praised Hon. Olasehinde for supporting residents engaged in small and medium enterprises, describing the gesture as a boost to grassroots development.
