The well-attended gathering drew party leaders, stakeholders, elders and grassroots mobilisers from across the local government area.
Speakers from the various wards, who took turns to address the gathering, commended the lawmaker for what they described as impactful representation and visible development projects across communities in the constituency.
They noted that his efforts in infrastructure development, community engagement and inclusive governance had improved the living conditions of residents.
The stakeholders unanimously called for his re-election, saying a renewed mandate would help consolidate ongoing projects and facilitate further development in the area.
The event also witnessed the participation of various groups, including Community Development Committee (CDC) leaders, members of the Hausa community, artisans and other key stakeholders, reflecting broad-based support for the lawmaker.
The meeting ended with a collective endorsement of Hon. Soneye, with participants expressing confidence in his leadership and commitment to the development of Obafemi Owode Local Government.
Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode represents Obafemi Owode Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly and currently serves as Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Housing.
In his address to the supporters, the lawmaker expressed surprise over his endorsement for another term, stating that he was unaware of the planned show of support by party members and constituents.
“I was honestly not aware of this endorsement. I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming show of love and confidence in my leadership,” he said.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God, as reflected in the Bible, and I remain committed to serving diligently and justifying this trust.”
He pledged improved representation if re-elected into the Ogun State House of Assembly, assuring constituents of more responsive and people-focused leadership.
He said his next term would prioritise infrastructure development, youth empowerment and better access to social services across Obafemi Owode Constituency.
Soneye noted that his previous tenure laid a solid foundation, adding that continuity would ensure completion of ongoing projects and delivery of new initiatives.
He emphasised the importance of inclusive governance, promising to engage more closely with community leaders, artisans and youth groups.
